Sustainability

Reuse. Recycle. Renew.

Caring for the Environment

Johnson Jewelers strives to be an eco-conscious and sustainable company. Toward that end, we practice reusing, recycling and renewing when we can, and we partner with responsible companies such as Hoover & Strong, Stuller and Rio Grande.

Hoover & Strong (www.hooverandstrong.com), the primary source for our precious metals, is known for its Harmony Recycled Precious Metals, and its green refining process.

It is a member of the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), a “standards-setting organization that has been established to advance responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental practices throughout the diamond, gold and platinum group metals jewelry supply chain.”

Stuller (www.stuller.com), one of our major sources for jewelry findings, gems, and components, is also a certified member of the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), using recycled metals and ethically-sourced materials, as well as promoting conservation.

Rio Grande (www.riogrande.com), another major source of supplies, utilizes earth-first and socially-responsible practices, in manufacturing, recycling, partnering with vendors, conservation and charitable endeavors.

We source our gems from known and trusted vendors, and we only work with diamond sources that abide by the Kimberly Process – a collection of companies and procedures in place to reduce the flow of conflict diamonds.

Aside from working with environmentally and socially-conscious companies, we strive to recycle and be mindful of waste every day. We attempt to refine every scrap of metal, and reuse every piece of packaging that we can.

As members of Jewelers of America we stand by the following code of professional practices for environmental responsibility:

– We will strive to conduct our business in an environmentally responsible manner.
– We will strive to manage our environmental footprint by eliminating or minimizing negative environmental impacts.
– We will strive to ensure the efficiency of our business operations by managing our use of resources and energy.
