Jewelry Repair

WE OFFER ON-SITE JEWELRY REPAIR

Customer requests vary from simple ring sizing, prong repair, or pearl restringing, to major reconstruction for items damaged in an accident. We have seen it all! Rings can get damaged from daily wear, so we encourage you to visit us if you feel a rough edge or notice a loose stone on your ring. Most routine repairs can be completed within two weeks, depending on the complexity of the job, and the materials needed.

OUR REPAIR PROCESS

When you bring an item to us, a staff member will review and record the information you provide, as well as note visual details (color and mark of metal, length of necklace, breakage points, etc.,) on a numbered job form. We will ask for your signature on the form, and give you a copy of the job number tag, before storing the item safely.

Within a few days, our gemologist will review each incoming item, determine the best course of action, and provide cost and scope estimates for complicated items, prior to starting the work. The majority of items require cleaning in order to be repaired, so your finished project will often look like new!

We will call you when it is ready, and hold it safely for your return.

Quality repairs take time, and we appreciate your patience.

The price depends on type of metal, band width, and a few other factors. As a reference point, a 14k gold plain band that is less than 3.5mm wide costs $30 to size down and $56 to size up, up to 2 sizes. We deduct the value of the scrap retained. Rhodium plating costs an additional $30.

Our most common repairs include ring re-sizing, repairing prongs on a ring, and replacing broken clasps on a necklace. We do very complex repairs as well.

Custom Design

BRINGING YOUR VISION TO LIFE

We offer extensive custom design services, for that special ring, the matching of pearls, or the redesign of a worn and outdated piece. We have a large collection of catalogues from trusted vendors and designers, and can help you find the perfect setting for the gem from your family heirloom, or can curate diamonds and gems that meet your needs.

Our custom design services range from doing something simple, like changing out a couple details about a piece you see in our showcases, to the more complex designs where we work with you to create something from scratch.

In most cases, making your vision come to life will require consultation, design sketching, then engineering a structurally sound, and beautiful, piece of jewelry from that design. We love to turn your dreams into reality! Please contact us for an appointment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED CUSTOM DESIGN QUESTIONS

I have a piece of jewelry that was handed down to me. I would like it made into something else. Can you do that?2020-10-16T13:48:50-07:00

Yes, we can! This is a common request. We will work with you to recreate your piece into something you will love.

How do I start the process to get a custom piece made?2020-10-16T13:48:18-07:00

You can call to set up a free consultation appointment. The initial consultation can be virtual using Zoom or Face Time. It is helpful if you have a very good idea of what you are looking for, but if not, our gemologist/designer can help with ideas. Subsequent meetings will be in person or vitual, depending on preference and complexity.

How long does it take for custom jewelry design & creation?2020-10-16T13:47:43-07:00

This varies widely depending on the complexity of the piece. Plan a minimum of several weeks for semi-custom designs to possibly several months for ground-up design and fabrication. We may be able to accommodate a shorter deadline but that must be evaluated on a case by case basis.
